A fluidized bed is a container of PVC or nylon powder that has air blown into it from the bottom.
This air makes the solid powder “fluidize” or act like a liquid. Piper Plastics typically fluidizes both PVC and Nylon powders in a multitude of colors, and we have some experience with other materials as well.
Therefore, most of our fluid bed work is done on products that need to be fully coated.
Something to consider when employing this process is that the part being coated needs to be held in some fashion while it is being submerged in the fluidized bed.
Typically, there is a small blemish, which can be “repaired” or sealed in post-processing, when this process is performed.
