The Guys Who Get it Done at Piper:

Mr. Piper Plastics
Ernesto Cabello

Andrew Weiss

Owner/ Chief Engineer

Andy began working at Piper when he was a young teenager.  At 17, he left to study Electrical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  In 1983, he became a General Motors Scholar and spent his summers working for GM at their Packard Electric plant in Warren, OH.

Upon graduating from MIT in 1985, he felt the need to “head west” and began working for KLA Instruments (now KLA-Tencor) in Santa Clara, CA.  At KLA, Andy honed his engineering skills while working first as a manufacturing engineer and later as a design engineer, building and designing automatic silicon wafer inspection systems used by semiconductor fabricators.

In 1988, Piper’s founder and Andy’s father, Larry Weiss, asked Andy to return to the east coast and work on a project to automate the manufacture of disposable nasal cannula assemblies.  When Andy completed that project in the early 1990s, he began taking control of Piper’s day-to-day operations.

Andy is Piper’s chief engineer.

Ernesto Cabello

President

Ernesto also comes to Piper from MIT, where he first met Andy, obtaining both his BS (1988) and MS (1990) in Nuclear Engineering.

His first post-graduate assignment was as a project engineer at the MIT Nuclear Reactor Lab, where he was responsible for developing in-core experiments.

At Piper, Ernesto is responsible for all day-to-day operations, including manufacturing, quality, purchasing, sales, and customer service.
